We welcome correspondence from readers, researchers, and rights holders who wish to share observations, ask questions, or report concerns about any title in the Historical Children’s Library.

The most direct way to reach us is by writing to the acquisitions editor, Walt Hardy, at editor@deinp.com. Mr. Hardy oversees the selection and presentation of our public-domain catalogue and reads every message personally.

When to Write

• Metadata corrections — If you notice an incorrect author name, a misspelled title, a wrong publication date, or a category that seems mismatched (for example, a maritime story placed in “Fairy Moral Tales” when it belongs in “Young Readers”). Even small details matter—a corrected date can help a researcher locate the right edition, and a properly categorized book makes discovery easier for everyone.
• File or reader issues — An ebook that will not open on your device, a format that displays garbled text, missing illustrations, or a file that fails to load in your preferred browser or reading app. We test files in common readers, but variations in software and settings can sometimes cause unexpected behavior.
• Accessibility problems — Poor contrast, missing alt text on cover images, screen-reader incompatibility, or any barrier that makes the text difficult to navigate. We aim to make our catalogue usable by all readers, and your observations help us identify where we fall short.
• Copyright or rights concerns — If you believe a title in our collection is not in the public domain in your jurisdiction, or if you hold rights to a work and wish to discuss its inclusion. Please note that public-domain status varies by country; a work that is free in the United States may still be protected elsewhere.
• General editorial observations — Contextual notes, background sources, or suggestions for companion titles that might enrich a reader’s experience of a particular work. We are especially interested in hearing about obscure authors or regional editions that deserve attention. For instance, if you have background on The wondrous sickle, and other stories or a related text that could be paired with Excursion to the Orkney Islands, we would be glad to consider it.

What to Include in Your Message

To help us respond efficiently, please include as many of the following details as are relevant:

• The exact page URL where the issue appears (for example, the catalogue page for The chest of tools — Text and Context).
• The full title of the ebook and, if known, the file format (EPUB, PDF, MOBI, etc.).
• The device, operating system, and browser or reading application you are using.
• A clear description of the problem: what you expected to see and what actually happened.
• If the matter involves copyright or rights, any supporting documentation or information about the work’s copyright status in your country.

What We Cannot Do

Because we are a small independent catalogue, we cannot guarantee a specific response time, nor can we provide technical support for third-party devices or software. We do not maintain a telephone line, a physical office address, or a contact form. All communication is handled through the editorial email above.
